AT&T Stolen Phone Blocking Service
In April 2012 it was announced that AT&T and other major carriers will maintain a database of stolen mobile phones in cooperation with FCC. After which now AT&T is going to lauch a new blocking service for stolen phones from July 10 2012.
As reported on Macrumors AT&T has issued this statement to MacRumors:
As announced in April, AT&T is creating a stolen phone database to prevent devices reported stolen from accessing wireless networks. We will install this availability next week for AT&T phones on our network and are working toward a cross-carrier solution later this year.
I hope more information will be available soon after this news has come out because there can be many privacy related questions as well. Lets see what comes more on this issue. In my opinion the stolen phone blocking service will impact the sale of used mobiles and also rate of phone theft cases.
